Job Description
New Directions Education are seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to work in primary schools across the Torfaen area, specifically within the Foundation Phase. As a supply learning support assistant, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a flexible basis, supporting children with additional needs, helping them thrive in a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
About the Role:
1. Supporting Early Learners: Provide 1:1 and small group support to children in Foundation Phase (ages 3-7) who require additional support with learning.
2. Classroom Support: Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons, promoting positive behaviour, and supporting pupils’ emotional and social development.
3. Tailored Learning: Help create and implement tailored learning activities that cater to the individual needs of students, ensuring every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
4. Inclusive Environment: Be part of an inclusive school environment, ensuring all children feel valued and confident to succeed in their learning.
Requirements:
5. Experience supporting children in a school or educational setting, ideally within the Foundation Phase.
6. A patient, nurturing attitude with the ability to adapt to the needs of individual students.
7. Knowledge of special educational needs (SEN) would be an advantage.
8. A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, or the willingness to undertake one.
9. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
10. An understanding of Welsh education system is desirable but not essential.
