Network Automation Engineer Specialist (telecoms/ network)
Hybrid working (2-3 days in customer office in London) – working between Reading and London
Permanent – 12-month fix term contract
About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled and self-motivated Network Automation Engineer Specialist with hands-on experience in Itential IAP, Cisco NSO, and Python scripting. The ideal candidate will have experience automating network devices (routers, firewalls, servers), strong CI/CD skills with GitLab, and familiarity with Red Hat OS, OpenShift, and automation frameworks. Experience with API management platforms (Apigee, Kong, OpenShift API Management) and Web Application Firewalls (WAF) is highly desirable. This role will drive network automation, infrastructure-as-code deployments, and platform integrations.
Responsibilities:
1. Design, implement, and maintain network automation using Itential IAP, Cisco NSO, and Python.
2. Manage workflows, integrations, APIs, and multi-vendor network devices.
3. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitLab.
4. Deploy and manage automation microservices on Red Hat OpenShift.
5. Work with Python, YAML, XML, JavaScript, and Jinja for automation tasks.
6. Integrate with HashiCorp Vault for secure secrets management.
7. Implement and manage API Management solutions and Web Application Firewalls (WAF).
8. Collaborate with DevOps, NetOps, and Security teams.
9. Troubleshoot and optimize automation workflows and platform performance.
10. Ensure adherence to security best practices and regulations.
11. Required Skills and Qualifications:
12. Experience with Itential IAP and Cisco NSO.
13. 5–7 years of telecom experience, with 3–4 years in telecom automation.
14. Strong knowledge of network administration and firewall configuration (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Juniper).
15. Hands-on CI/CD experience with GitLab pipelines.
16. Experience with containerized applications on Red Hat OpenShift.
17. Proficient in Python, JavaScript, YAML, XML, YANG, and Jinja templates.
18. Experience with API management (Apigee, Kong, OpenShift API Management) and API lifecycle.
19. Background in UNIX/Linux administration and working with REST APIs, JSON, webhooks.
20. Experience with Web Application Firewalls (WAF) (F5 ASM, AWS WAF, Azure WAF).
21. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
