Job Description
Prospero Teaching are seeking a resilient, positive, and dynamic Tutor to support a young person transitioning into Year 7, following a recent permanent exclusion (PEX). This is a vital opportunity to help rebuild their confidence and reignite their love for learning through consistent, compassionate support.
About the Learner:
* Currently in Year 6, moving into Year 7
* Has suspected Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and may struggle to engage with new people
* Requires support in English and Maths, with some gaps from the previous academic year
* Needs a Tutor who can offer a trauma-informed approach and understands the importance of emotional safety in learning
As a Tutor you will:
* Deliver 1:1 tuition for 15 hours per week (3 hours/day, Monday to Friday)
* Support the learner in catching up with core subjects, especially English and Maths
* Build a trusting relationship and foster a safe, encouraging learning environment
* Use trauma-informed strategies to reduce anxiety and increase engagement
* Track progress and adapt teaching methods to suit the learner's evolving needs
About you:
* Experience working in Alternative Provision or similar settings
* Strong understanding of trauma-informed teaching practices
* Patience, empathy, and adaptability in building trust and engagement
* Ability to deliver creative and flexible lessons tailored to the learner's needs
* A calm and consistent presence who can support emotional regulation and academic progress

* Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
* Provide references upon request
* Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
