Primary Function: Responsible for rendering professional nursing services, either directly or indirectly, for a defined group of patients according to the hospital’s philosophy of patient care.
Job Qualifications and Specifications: ICU Registered Nurses are expected to have:
* I.V. certification
* The ability to recognize all significant cardiac arrhythmia
* A clear understanding of symptoms and clinical findings for myocardial infarction and its complications
* An understanding of the needs of the critically-ill medical and surgical patient
* A thorough knowledge of the psychological as well as the medical needs of the patient and the need to maintain an environment free from noise and anxiety
* Competence in the operation of all resuscitation equipment
* BLS certification
* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) completion. New graduates will complete ACLS within one year of hire
* Knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring and basics for Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumping
* Attendance and completion of yearly competency fair
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
* RI state RN licensure
