Your new role
As Finance Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day output of the finance function. This is a hands-on leadership role within a transactional SME environment, where accuracy, structure and people management are key.Your responsibilities will include:
1. Leading and developing a small finance team, setting objectives and supporting continuous improvement
2. Overseeing accounts payable and receivable, including supplier reconciliations, debt management and cash flow control
3. Producing monthly management accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations, prepayments and control accounts
4. Managing daily bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
5. Client accounting and interpany reconciliations
6. CIS submissions andpliance
7. Overseeing weekly and monthly payroll processes
8. Supporting performance management activities, including probation reviews and return‑to‑work meetings
This role sits firmly in the operational core of the business and requires a Finance Manager who isfortable being close to the detail while maintaining strong oversight of the team.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
9. AAT Level 4 qualification (or equivalent experience)
10. At least 5 years’ experience in an accounting or finance management role
11. Proven experience managing or supervising a finance team
12. Strong working knowledge of Xero
13. Advanced Excel skills and a high level of attention to detail
14. Confidence working in a fast‑moving, SME environment
15. Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
Experience within property, real estate, construction, or client‑accounting environments would be advantageous, though not essential.
