We're looking for proactive, positive, team players who are willing to go the extra mile, to help us build better lives for our residents.

Benefits and Housing Needs Officer – Discharge of Duty Officer

As part of the Housing Supply team, you'll manage a caseload where prevention or relief duties have concluded, making robust, legally compliant decisions on whether a full homeless duty is owed or can be discharged in accordance with the Homelessness Code of Guidance. This includes looking in detail at case suitability, preparing clear decision letters, and ensuring all actions align with statutory requirements. You'll work closely with applicants and partners to achieve positive housing outcomes.

We need someone with proven local authority homelessness/housing needs experience and a comprehensive knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Homelessness Code of Guidance.

Our Service

The Benefits & Homeless Prevention Service is a very busy service, working with a wide range of residents who need our support to deal with the complex challenges they face. It is also a great place to work, develop and learn.

At Hackney we have taken an innovative approach to delivering the service by combining Benefits and Homeless Prevention functions. This gives us an opportunity to work together to help residents through their housing challenges using a holistic approach.
