Mechanics Instructor
Milk Education is working in partnership with an innovative alternative provision programme delivered through TeamSport’s network of go-karting tracks. We are seeking a passionate, practical and positive individual to support young people in developing valuable life skills, confidence and vocational qualifications.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience or a strong interest in mechanics, motor vehicle engineering or automotive technology who wants to make a real difference to young people’s futures. Teaching experience is not essential – full training and support will be provided.
Successful candidates will become part of the Fast Forward Vocational Team, a specialist training provider within the TeamSport family, dedicated to delivering engaging, hands-on learning for students who benefit from alternative education pathways.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver Engaging Learning
1. Deliver practical Motor Vehicle Studies sessions.
2. Support learners with Functional Skills in Maths and English, linking them to real automotive scenarios.
Support Student Development
3. Work closely with learners, including those with SEMH needs, to build confidence, motivation and practical skills.
Teach Real-World Skills
4. Cover areas such as:
Health and safety
Vehicle inspection
Spark ignition power units
Customer service within the automotive industry
Monitor Progress
5. Assess learner development and provide tailored support.
6. Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement.
Collaborate as a Team
7. Work alongside General Managers, programme leaders and the wider Fast Forward team to deliver high-quality provision.
Maintain Safe Learning Environments
8. Uphold safeguarding policies and maintain high standards of health and safety in both classroom and workshop settings.
Support Future Pathways
9. Encourage learners to consider next steps including further training, education or employment.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
10. Good knowledge of mechanics or automotive engineering (formal qualifications not required).
11. A positive, patient and encouraging approach when working with young people.
12. Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
13. Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
14. Right to work in the UK.
Desirable (Training can be provided)
15. Experience supporting learners with SEMH needs.
16. Familiarity with Functional Skills Maths and English.
17. Previous experience in education, training, youth work or mentoring environments.
Working Hours
18. 37.5 hours per week contract (includes a 30-minute unpaid break each day).
19. Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm.
20. Term time only, with annual leave aligned to school holidays.
