Job Profile Summary
Working within the Marine Specialty department as a Senior Underwriter for Marine Cargo and Freight Liability business.
Role to be based in Manchester/North West hub.
Job Description
* Develop and maintain broker relationships to expand the current book of business.
* Generate new business opportunities aligned with Lonham's growth strategy.
* Gain knowledge of and articulate Lonham's client proposition.
* Underwrite, review new and renewal risks considering risk type, cargo nature, limits, voyages, stock locations, turnover, rating guidelines, and claims experience.
* Produce and distribute policy documentation.
* Maintain accurate records within underwriting and accounts systems, capturing relevant data for risk monitoring and analysis.
* Monitor risks due for renewal.
* Prepare reports and statistical information for underwriters.
* Liaise with brokers and policyholders to obtain information, provide quotes, and produce insurance documentation. Follow up on outstanding premiums, adjustments, and declarations.
* Raise invoices and credits as required.
* Coordinate with other departments within Lonham and Chaucer.
* Build and develop good working relationships with brokers and clients.
* Participate in training sessions and meetings as required.
Regulatory Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, focusing on good customer outcomes and fair treatment.
* Manage relationships with customers, agents, and service providers.
* Advise and assist customers on insurance and risk matters to enhance satisfaction.
* Understand customer needs and foster positive relationships.
* Handle customer complaints promptly and appropriately.
* Complete annual product review assessments on time with proper approvals.
* Follow Chaucer Group Product Governance processes and obtain necessary approvals.
* Uphold principles of good customer outcomes and fair treatment by agents and service providers.
Skills and Competencies
* Relevant experience in Cargo and Freight Liability.
* Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
* Experience negotiating with brokers and liaising with clients.
* Understanding of business planning and modelling concepts.
* Organized, able to meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
* Effective communication skills adaptable to different levels.
* Resilient, capable of working under pressure.
* Team player.
* Proficiency in Excel (Intermediate level).
Education
* ACII qualification.
