Overview

At Haverigg Nursery and the Clubbers, we take pride in the high level of childcare we provide to the children enrolled in our care, in an inclusive and caring environment. We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to join our team to become our full time Nursery Manager. The right candidate for this post will have excellent communication skills, display a positive attitude and be able to deal with the daily challenges of a busy Nursery setting.

The role will include Managing the setting, staffing and childcare groups, understanding staffing ratio levels and how to develop staff within a working room.

This position requires working within all areas of the Nursery daily. This includes engaging with children in all areas of the setting including inside, outside and providing beach and forest school experiences. The right individual must be confident to engage with children from 3 months to 11 years and will be required to work on a lunchtime rota. During the summer months we spend a great deal of time outside, we love all things nature and have dedicated a messy garden to planting and creating within our setting. Our inside provision is wonderfully inviting and is frequently changed around to keep the children exploring and engaging in what we have to offer. We are looking for an individual who will slot right into our chaos and love it as much as the rest of the team.

The candidate should be Level 3 qualified. The successful candidate must be able to work between the hours of 6:45am and 6:15pm, Monday to Friday and must be flexible to different working times and days on a weekly basis if required. Good levels of Maths and English are required.

The successful candidate will be given full training to work within our setting. Hours and salary to be agreed with the successful candidate, these can be suggested by the candidate and agreed with the committee. Haverigg Nursery & The Clubbers Job Description: Nursery Manager

Summary of Post

To Manage the whole setting on a day-to-day basis and manage the Deputy Manager and wider Nursery staff, throughout the year and liaising with key stakeholders, including the Local Authority and the Lighthouse Centre Management.

The post holder will be the first point of contact at Nursery, therefore must provide a good representation of Haverigg Nursery. The postholder will be responsible to the Chairperson and will be responsible for the management of other Nursery staff.

Key duties and responsibilities

* To provide safe, high-quality education and care for all children in line with legal and statutory requirements.

* To supervise staff on a day-to-day basis, including managing appearance, absence and other HR responsibilities.

* To complete planning including drawing up long term, medium term and sessional curriculum plans which ensure that every child is working towards their goals.

* To manage the provision of high quality of teaching, ensuing that staff are properly deployed and offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children. Ensure the staff are following the current development guidance in line with statutory frameworks.

* To manage drawing up and supervision the daily program of nursery activities and events, enable evaluation of the activities and to act upon findings to improve the setting's practices.

* To manage the implementation of systems to observe and maintain record keeping so that children's attainment and progress is effectively and regularly assessed to enable monitoring of the effectiveness of assessment procedures.

* To manage the supervision of staff on a daily basis including participation in staff appraisals and to identify in-service training needs. To maintain rotas to cover absence and appropriate staff ratios in the setting at all times.

* Ensure the children's records are properly maintained, e.g. Attendance register, Accident and incident book.

* To ensure the online systems are maintained and kept up to date alongside the Nursery Administrator (Tapestry, M365, Facebook etc).

* Work alongside the nursery Administrator to ensure a presentable workspace open to meetings and staff briefings.

* Responsible of the booking in of new children and working alongside parents to ensure seamless transition into the setting, whilst maintaining ratios in line with our Ofsted registration.

* To liaise closely with Parents/Carers, informing them about the Nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children's progress and encouraging parent's involvement.

* To ensure that the nursery is a safe place for children, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times and fire drills are regularly practiced.

* To work as part of the staff ratio to provide high quality care for the Children in our care. This includes working a lunchtime rota and delivering play both inside and outside of the setting, Forest School and beach experiences. To maintain the storage and organise of all aspects of the setting.

* Liaise with the Management Committee, social services and other professionals as necessary and ensure that all legal and statutory requirements are implemented; to provide reports as required.

* To contribute to and to implement all nursery policies and procedures.

* To attend in-service training and meetings as required for the role.

* To liaise with voluntary teachers.

* To lead on organising fundraising events alongside other staff.

* To fulfil the role as lead person for child protection in setting and to ensure that any child protection concerns are acted upon immediately and appropriately.

* To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Chair in accordance with the setting's business plan and objectives.

* To maintain budgetary control of all expenditure within the setting and authorise all expenditure on a daily basis. This includes signing off all orders and also reviewing the claims to the Local Authority for funded children, alongside the Nursery Administrator.

* To make all final decisions regarding the setting on a day to day basis and liaising with the Nursery Chair on other matters.

* To be the lead person to lead the Nursery during Ofsted inspections.

* To complete statutory training on an annual basis as directed by Nursery policy, and any other appropriate training.

* To maintain confidentiality at all times, incl. being vigilant to ensure identifiable information is not accessible to the general public.

* To demonstrate excellent standards of presentation and communication, adhering to reception and customer care best practice.

* Carry out risk assessments as required.

* This list is not exhaustive and there will be other duties as required that support the setting and the Chair.

Health and Safety Responsibilities

To ensure that the Nurseries Health and Safety Policies are understood and observed and that procedures are followed.

To take the necessary precautions to safeguard the welfare and safety of yourself, children, visitors, and staff, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act.

To undertake appropriate health and safety training to support safe working practice, including where appropriate, its management.

To demonstrate a practical understanding of risk assessment in relation to their areas of responsibility and to ensure safe systems of work are in place.

To ensure that all incidents occurring within the nursery are reported in accordance with the relevant procedure.

Confidentiality

All staff are required to respect the confidentiality of all matters they of learn of during the course of their employment including matters relating to children, parents/carers and staff.

Safeguarding Children

All employees have a duty for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Staff must be aware of the Nurseries procedure for raising concerns about the welfare of anyone with whom they have contact. Staff must also ensure they receive the appropriate level of safeguarding children training depending on their role in the Nursery.
