We are looking for an experienced Assistant Head of Student Wellbeing Services (Mental Health) who will hold clinical responsibility for mental health related activities and provide leadership and direction to the Mental Health Team.

This role sits within the multi award-winning Student Wellbeing Service which offers support and guidance to students with mental, physical and learning needs. The ideal applicant will be an expert practitioner, professionally trained in the field of Mental Health with current post-qualification practice in this field.

You will have excellent leadership and team working skills, use high-level judgment to make considered decisions, prioritise need and advise on ‘at risk’ clients on a day-to-day basis. You will be experienced in responding to serious or critical incidents in coordination with relevant internal and external services and have worked in a multidisciplinary team where you have been responsible for the delivery of a mental health service.

You will be experienced in managing complex cases, conducting risk assessments, providing mental health and wellbeing advice and support to individuals and in managing a team of mental health professionals where client safety and needs are central to service delivery. You will be able to work flexibly in response to mental health crises or other similar urgent situations, including flexible working hours/locations and be part of a senior on call out of hours rota.

You will be experienced in working with a diverse range of people, who have a range of mental health support needs. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues from clinical and non-clinical backgrounds is also essential.

The successful applicant will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in the field of healthcare and will be registered with a relevant professional body for example NMC (Nursing Midwifery Council),HCPC (Body for Occupational Therapists or SWE (Social Work England).

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 therefore the successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced Data and Barring Service check.
