Teacher of English
Location: Caerphilly, Wales
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3pm)
Pay: £172.98 to £200 per day (depending on experience.)
A supportive and ambitious secondary school in Caerphilly is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of English to join their English department from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic educator who is committed to inspiring a love of literature, language, and communication across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The ability to teach Key Stage 5 is desirable but not essential.
ECTs/NQTs and experienced teachers are warmly encouraged to apply.
About the Role:
You will deliver engaging and high-quality English lessons, helping pupils to develop strong skills in reading, writing, and spoken communication. You will inspire learners to engage with a wide range of texts and develop confidence in their analytical and creative writing abilities.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Ability to teach English across KS3 and KS4
Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
Passion for literature, language, and literacy development
Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
Ability to inspire and motivate learners of all abilities
Commitment to raising attainment and promoting a love of reading and writing
Desirable:
Experience teaching GCSE English Language and Literature
Ability to teach KS5 English (not essential)
ECT/NQT applications welcome
Understanding of the Curriculum for Wales
Essential Safeguarding & Compliance:
Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
