PIMCO is seeking a highly experienced Senior UK Media Relations Manager to strengthen and build the firm’s profile and reputation in the UK market through high-quality communications programmes. This role requires a strategic communicator with deep knowledge of the UK media landscape and proven experience in financial services, ideally asset management. The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver impactful media relations initiatives, thought leadership projects, and press office management activities that elevate PIMCO’s brand among institutional and wealth management audiences.
Key Responsibilities
* Strengthen and build PIMCO’s profile and reputation in the UK market with high-quality communications programmes.
* Leverage strong media relationships and thought leadership penetration in financial media, expanding reach into adviser and wealth manager segments (including personal finance sections of national newspapers).
* Work with the business to drive thought leadership projects that help elevate PIMCO’s reputation and brand in the UK.
* Support and manage several media events, including PIMCO’s flagship annual PIMCO Media Summit in London.
* Manage a structured programme of media meetings for spokespeople and provide media training and coaching.
* Work closely with the wider global corporate communications team and visiting U.S. spokespeople.
Press Office Management
* Act as UK press office for media enquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
* Draft comments and press releases.
* Monitor media coverage, produce insightful reports, and track impact.
* Manage issues and develop reactive statements as needed.
* Support EMEA communications activities as needed.
Skills & Experience
* Media Relations Expertise: Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with UK financial media, including national newspapers, trade publications, and broadcast outlets.
* Strategic Communications: Experience developing and executing high-quality communications programmes that enhance brand reputation and market presence.
* Thought Leadership Delivery: Skilled in driving thought leadership initiatives that resonate with institutional and wealth management audiences.
* Event Management: Experience supporting and managing media events, including larger conferences and press briefings.
* Press Office Management: Ability to act as a proactive press office - handling media enquiries, drafting comments and press releases, managing issues, and producing reactive statements.
* Media Training: Experience coaching and preparing senior spokespeople for media engagements.
* Analytical Skills: Experience in monitoring media coverage, producing insightful reports, and measure impact.
* Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the UK media landscape and financial services sector, ideally asset management.
* Communication Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and tone.
* Collaboration: Ability to work closely with business stakeholders and global communications teams to deliver integrated campaigns.
* Senior-Level Influence: Comfortable operating at a senior level, advising and influencing senior stakeholders and executives.
* EMEA Market Experience: Experience in other EMEA markets is a bonus, especially the Middle East.
Qualifications
* A minimum of 7-10 years of relevant Media Relations experience.
* Bachelors degree required.
This role can be extended as a day rated contract or FTC.
