Job Title: Head of Built Environment
Location: Canterbury
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary
Hours: 37 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm (4:30pm finish on Friday)
About the Role
We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Head of Built Environment to lead and manage our clients dynamic programme area, which encompasses:
Carpentry
Electrical Installation
Plumbing
Design, Surveying, and Planning
Bricklaying (up to Level 3)The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of the department, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning, and maintaining the highest standards across all areas of provision. With a strong commitment to excellence, you will create a positive, supportive, and aspirational culture for both staff and learners.
Key Responsibilities
Provide effective leadership and management across the Built Environment curriculum area.
Promote and maintain high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across all programmes.
Lead, motivate, and support staff to achieve departmental and college-wide objectives.
Take responsibility for the quality assurance of programme provision.
Effectively manage a delegated budget to ensure resources are allocated efficiently.
Ensure compliance with awarding body and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to the strategic development of the college, particularly within the Built Environment sector.Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Proven leadership and management experience, ideally within an educational or vocational training environment.
Strong knowledge of one or more Built Environment disciplines (Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Design/Surveying/Planning, or Bricklaying).
Ability to inspire staff and students, driving continuous improvement.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
A track record of promoting high standards and fostering a culture of excellence.Qualifications
Level 5 Teaching Qualification (Essential).
Relevant professional or trade qualifications in a Built Environment discipline (Desirable).Contract Details
Full-time, 37 hours per week.
