Job Title: Head of Business Development

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to one of the water industry's most critical challenges while developing your expertise across data, network operations, and strategic resolution planning. Onsite, IWS M&E, and G Stow is part of the South Staffordshire Group – a 3,000-strong organisation behind South Staffs Water, Cambridge Water, and several leading utility support businesses – offering long-term development and career progression. Reporting directly to the OnSite Business Development Director, this is a senior, hands‑on leadership position where you will drive strategic growth, strengthen client relationships, and secure new opportunities. You will lead high‑quality bid activity, collaborate across multiple functions, and play a key role in shaping the future direction of our business.
The Role
* Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement business development strategies aligned to company objectives
* Team Management: Lead and support account management activities, driving performance and collaboration
* Relationship Building: Act as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders and clients
* Revenue Growth: Identify and secure new business opportunities to meet ambitious growth targets
* Bid Leadership: Oversee high‑quality, compelling bid submissions aligned with delivery strategies
* Cross‑functional Collaboration: Work closely with estimating, design, operations, and commercial teams to deliver winning proposals
What You’ll Need
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in M&E or Civils construction bidding (qualitative focus)
* Proven track record in business development and bid writing within the construction sector
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
* Strong commercial awareness and experience working with estimating and delivery teams
* A proactive, strategic mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment
