Maintenance Engineering Technician - Ash Manor
As a Maintenance Engineer Technician, you will be an integral part of a small multiskilled team responsible for maintenance, repair and optimisation of our production equipment to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the factory. You will work closely with Production colleagues to ensure that equipment is correctly set up and maintained, monitor performance, carry out fault diagnosis, and perform running adjustments and repairs in a fast‑paced cheese packing environment.
In this role you will also develop and implement continuous improvement LEAN projects, conduct routine preventive maintenance, overhaul plant and machinery, and support the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
The position is 40 hours per week with a rotating shift pattern Monday to Friday 6.00am-2.00pm / 2.00pm-10.00pm, with some flexibility required to meet business needs.
The Role
* Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults quickly and effectively
* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to minimise equipment failure
* Support production colleagues to optimise process set up and line efficiency and minimise downtime
* Support the installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment
* Maintain accurate records of work completed and shift handover
* Through structured continuous improvement devise initiatives to increase efficiencies and reduce costs and implement engineering projects
* Work with department manager to maintain spare part control
* Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards
The Person
* Minimum of 3 years’ engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Multi‑skilled Engineering
* Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively
* Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
* Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
* Proven experience to work under pressure while managing and prioritising workload effectively
* Proven experience in working on tasks that require a high level of attention to detail
* 3 years’ engineering experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
* 18th Edition wiring regulations certificate
