We have a great opportunity for a Senior Accountant in Inverness. This role can be undertaken on a hybrid working pattern, working from our site in Inverness.
What YOU will do here at LifeScan:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting of Global Business Services (GBS) team, including cash, AP payments, T&E, and other P&L expenses. The successful candidate will monitor the monthly and quarterly General Ledger closing process for tasks assigned to GBS, including: coordinating month end deliverables for all groups, approving journal entries, investigating variances, and streamlining processes.
These responsibilities will provide opportunities for business partnering with the global finance organisation and an opportunity to understand and drive the business performance, as well as streamlining and optimising accounting-related tasks in partnership with the shared service organisation.
Responsibilities will include:
* Overseeing monthly close activities of GBS team
* Preparing/approving monthly balance sheet reconciliations
* Preparing and reviewing various types of journal entries including cash, bad debt reserves, FX revaluations etc.
* Preparing Intercompany journal entries and providing related guidance
* Preparing monthly and quarterly variance analysis
* Completing Audit Requests
* Providing quarterly support to Commercial Finance for rebate audits
* Recommending process improvements and promoting a standardised approach
* Proactively investigating issues that arise to ensure accurate financial statements
* Leading and supporting the implementation of new tasks and best practices in GBS
* Keeping up to date with legislation changes and conducting technical accounting research when required
* Providing training when necessary
* Supporting ad-hoc projects, e.g. system automations/changes and process/cost improvements
* Supporting the GBS Accounting manager in the transition of GBS cash application team to internal Cash Collections team
* Monitoring the application of cash and related banking issues, including IT challenges
* Working closely with Cash Collections to investigate and resolve issues
* Reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Job Requirements
About YOU:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for an experienced, degree qualified individual with around 5 years’ proven track record in an accounting, finance, or business-related discipline.
CIMA or ACCA fully qualified candidates are preferred, however we will consider partially-qualified candidates, or qualified by experience.
You’ll also have a strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or relevant accounting standards.
Previous experience in supporting external audits and familiarity with audit processes is desirable, as is using JDE and Hyperion software applications.
As well as:
* Strong technical accounting and analytical skills, and a willingness to learn
* Experience in conducting financial analysis on both the balance sheet and income statement
* A good understanding of internal control procedures, with an ability to assess and improve controls to mitigate risks and ensure accuracy of financial data
* Experience in preparing for and supporting external audits, including providing auditors with necessary documentation and explanations
* Ability to leverage technology to streamline accounting processes
* Ability to identify and resolve accounting issues and discrepancies, as well as propose solutions for process improvements
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Strong collaboration skills, with an ability to build robust working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
