The Catering Department at St Mary\'s Hospital are seeking an experienced and innovative Chef to assist in the daily production of 680 patient meals and 350 staff and visitor meals.
Main duties
* Deliver bespoke menus to improve patient and customer satisfaction with the aim of supporting Trust income.
* Deliver desserts and cakes for patients and the restaurant.
* Deliver core patient meals, including texture modified diets.
* Prepare meats, vegetables, soups and sauces.
* Provide evening patient meals and staff/visitor service.
You will be working in a busy industrial kitchen, exposed to heat, cold and noise daily. The role is physically demanding; you will be on your feet throughout your shift and will need excellent manual dexterity.

Job description
Responsibilities include delivering bespoke menus to improve customer satisfaction, maintaining core patient meals including texture modified diets, preparing meats, vegetables, soups and sauces, and providing desserts for patients and the restaurant. Evening patient meals and staff/visitor service are also included.

Person Specification
Experience
* GCSE Maths and English Grade 4 or above or equivalent
* Experience of working as a Chef in a similar environment providing a large output of meals
* Detailed knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety practices
* Basic keyboard skills
* Effective communication skills – verbal and written. Must be able to read and understand written instructions, food safety/quality assurance documents and patient menu requirements
Desirable
* Level 3 Food Safety
* Experience of working with cook chill/cook freeze systems
* Full UK Driving Licence
