Main duties of the job
We are looking for a motivated, skilled and caring professional to join a friendly and cohesive team of dedicated paediatric radiologists at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
Job responsibilities
Provide a comprehensive diagnostic paediatric radiology service including general plain radiography, CT, ultrasound, and MRI.
Participate fully with the varied work of the department including dedicated on‑call rota.
Lead imaging in multidisciplinary meetings.
Contribute to training and quality improvement activity.
Encourage the development of a subspecialty interest in collaboration with colleagues; subspecialty training in paediatric neuroradiology is not essential but will be accommodated, as will dedicated paediatric interventional radiology.
Person Specification
Qualifications, Training & Experience
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
GMC registration with a licence to practise
Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
FRCR or equivalent
Experience of Paediatric Radiology with at least 1 year of subspecialty training in a recognised centre
Independent performance and reporting of all general paediatric diagnostic imaging
Independent performance of pneumatic reduction of intussusception and standard emergency paediatric fluoroscopy or readiness to be trained in this technique
CCT Radiology
MRCP or FRCS
Publications in Paediatric Radiology
Fellowship in Paediatric Radiology
Experience of working in paediatric trauma imaging
Independent performance of gastrojejunal feeding tube changes
Aptitudes and skills
Evidence and ability to work effectively in multi‑professional teams
Understanding of equality and diversity
Excellent communication and liaison skills
Good organisational and prioritisation skills meet deadlines
Calm, compassionate, respond efficiently in rapidly changing circumstances
Participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
