Overview
We are delighted to offer the availability of a Band 6 Podiatrist role within our Podiatry Team in South Essex. The service covers the Basildon area, Southend on Sea and Shoeburyness, and provides a holistic approach to patient care, including wound care, home visits, biomechanics, and nail surgery, as part of the multidisciplinary foot team in the Acute Trust, supported by the Podiatric Surgery Team at Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities & Duties
* New patient assessment clinics, routine clinics, ulcer clinics, domiciliary visits and nail surgery, with opportunities to shadow specialist musculoskeletal podiatrists and specialist diabetes podiatrists in the multidisciplinary diabetic foot service.
* Work independently and as part of a team, delivering high‑quality care in a variety of clinical settings.
* Travel across all areas of South Essex and collaborate with specialist teams, GPs and other health care professionals.
* Maintain accurate and appropriate documentation in line with Trust policies.
* Act professionally in customer care, including investigating and responding to complaints in line with Trust policy.
* Demonstrate a sound understanding of clinical governance, risk management and data protection (Caldicott, GDPR).
* Participate in audits, surveys, research and proposed service improvements.
* Deliver training and education to patients, students and other health professionals, and supervise students and apprentices.
* Act as an effective role model and expert resource on foot health management.
* Supervise and monitor peer support for all health care professionals Trust‑wide.
* Actively seek new knowledge, innovations and create appropriate change.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree or diploma in Podiatric medicine and a Certificate for Local Anaesthesia.
* Registered with HCPC (HCPC number required).
* Car driver or owner essential – car driving licence and a validated driving record.
* Enhanced DBS disclosure (subject to background check).
* Experience in wound care, home visits, biomechanics, nail surgery desirable.
* Familiarity with local pathways and PASCOM.
Additional Requirements
* Car driver / owner – essential.
* Mandatory training, supervision and yearly appraisals, including an individual development programme.
* Business mileage is remunerated; staff may apply for a lease or salary‑sacrifice car scheme.
* Required to maintain CPD and complete the preceptorship programme.
