Overview:
A leading global provider of facilities and data centre management services is seeking a Data Centre Shift Technician to join its high-performing critical engineering team in Slough. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with experience in mission-critical environments-or those looking to transition into this specialist field.
As a Shift Technician, you will be responsible for the safe operation, planned maintenance, and reactive repair of all mechanical and electrical systems within a state-of-the-art data centre.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain site electrical and mechanical systems in line with industry standards and best practices.
Conduct PPMs and respond to faults across a range of M&E systems, including UPS, generators, HVAC, and BMS.
Support HV/LV operations (training provided if required).
Troubleshoot and escalate issues as needed to minimise risk and downtime.
Maintain accurate records via the site's CAFM/PPM systems.
Work closely with shift supervisors and site teams to maintain high safety and operational standards.
Contribute to site cleanliness and organisation (plant areas, workshops, etc.).
Systems and Infrastructure Covered:
Building Electrical Installations and control panels
Emergency and general lighting systems
Lighting control and BMS systems
Fire detection and suppression systems
UPS systems and static switches
Air handling units, split systems, VAVs, FCUs
Generators and associated controls
Heating systems, pumps, and VFDs
Candidate Profile:
Essential:
C&G or equivalent in electrical or building services
18th Edition (Wiring Regulations)
Experience in building services or critical facilities (e.g. data centres, hospitals, financial services)
Excellent fault-finding and technical diagnostic skills
Strong communication and teamwork capabilities
Reliable, proactive, and safety-conscious
Desirable:
HV Authorised (or willingness to train)
Confined space training (where applicable)
Experience with UPS, generators, HVAC, BMS, water treatment
Recognised apprenticeship or trade background
