About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated IPS & Supported Employment Team Leader to lead a team of Employment Specialists delivering high-quality Individual Placement Support (IPS) and Supported Employment services across Hampshire.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate leader who is committed to improving employment outcomes for people experiencing mental health challenges and other barriers to work. You will provide leadership, mentoring, supervision, performance management, and operational support to ensure the consistent delivery of quality standards, contract compliance, and positive participant outcomes.
The successful candidate will work closely with health professionals, Jobcentre Plus, local authorities, community organisations, employers, and wider stakeholders to ensure integrated, community-focused employment support services.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, supervise, and develop a team of Employment Specialists to ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Ensure delivery meets and exceeds performance, quality, compliance, and employment outcome targets.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, field observations, and performance management support to staff.
• Address areas of underperformance promptly and effectively.
• Ensure at least 50% of working time is community-based, supporting staff, employers, and local engagement activity.
• Maintain high standards of compliance, data integrity, safeguarding, and information governance.
• Work collaboratively with clinical teams and external agencies to integrate employment and wellbeing support plans.
• Promote employment opportunities and support participants into sustainable paid employment.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers, Jobcentre Plus, local authorities, primary care services, and community organisations.
• Develop referral pathways and partnership networks to maximise participant engagement and outcomes.
• Ensure continuity of service and effective caseload management during staff absences.
• Produce regular operational and performance reports for senior management.
• Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, confidentiality, and safe working practices across the service.
Person Specification – Skills & Attributes
• Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
• Understanding or experience of the IPS model or Supported Employment delivery.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
• Experience managing remote or community-based teams and performance management procedures.
• Experience working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrable experience of achieving targets and improving systems and processes.
• Excellent communication, leadership, coaching, mentoring, organisational, stakeholder engagement, IT, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of barriers faced by people with mental health conditions and disadvantaged groups.
• Knowledge of the relationship between employment and mental health.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Commitment to safeguarding vulnerable adults and young people.
• Enhanced DBS check required.
• Ability to travel across Hampshire with flexibility, including occasional overnight stays where required.
• Experience supporting people with mental health conditions into employment.
• Experience working within multi-agency partnerships.
