Position Summary:
A Pharmacy Dispenser supports the safe and efficient preparation and supply of medicines under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. They assist in dispensing prescriptions, managing stock, and providing front-line service to patients and customers in community or hospital pharmacy settings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Accurately prepare, label, and dispense medicines as prescribed by healthcare providers under pharmacist supervision.
* Provide basic advice to patients on the correct use of medicines and refer complex queries to the pharmacist.
* Support patients with over-the-counter (OTC) medication requests.
* Maintain accurate prescription records and patient confidentiality.
* Assist with ordering, receiving, and managing pharmacy stock.
* Ensure medications are stored securely and in line with regulations.
* Handle customer inquiries, process payments, and support daily pharmacy operations.
* Adhere to health, safety, and legal requirements in all dispensing activities.
* Support the pharmacist in promoting health and wellbeing services.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Relevant pharmacy dispensing qualification or willingness to undertake training (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Pharmacy Services, depending on jurisdiction).
* Experience in a pharmacy or healthcare environment (desirable).
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Good communication and customer service skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a pharmacy team.
* Basic IT skills and familiarity with dispensing systems.
Work Environment:
Pharmacy Dispensers typically work in community pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, or health centers. The role involves direct patient interaction, teamwork, and supporting the safe delivery of pharmacy services.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 39 per week
