Job Description
Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor - construction - multi-site support role across Bedfordshire and the Northern Home counties - £55k-£60k+car/car allowance, pension and other benefits - tier one main contractor with an excellent safety culture and training/development opportunities.
Key responsibilities:
1. On a day-to-day basis, provide guidance and advice to the business on compliance with statutory requirements and company standards using Guidance and Observation visits.
2. Respond to requests for advice within the job holder's expertise, in discussion with the SHE Manager and others as appropriate.
3. Undertake risk assessments related to SHE.
4. Proactively work with operational teams during the project lifecycle to ensure SHE considerations are integrated at all stages, and relevant control measures are identified.
5. Assist the business with implementing company standards.
6. Undertake active monitoring of company projects using the monitoring system.
7. Highlight areas of poor practice or significant risk.
8. Investigate incidents, produce detailed factual reports, identify root causes, and recommend improvements.
9. Liaise with enforcing authorities as necessary.
10. Assist the SHE Manager in preparing, reviewing, and updating policies and procedures related to SHE management.
11. Collaborate with senior managers and directors on developing and implementing divisional strategies for SHE improvement.
12. Stay updated with new legislation and industry best practices through journals, websites, and site visits.
13. Raise awareness on SHE and sustainability issues through briefings and deliver training where needed.
Qualifications/Experience:
* NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (minimum).
* NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 5 in OHAS (desired).
* Relevant experience working as part of a SHE team.
* Proactive support to operational business units.
* Up-to-date knowledge of UK legislation related to construction projects.
