Overview
We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual who can maintain high standards of evidence based, holistic, patient centred care, acting as a primary or associate nurse with or without direct supervision within our ICU and HDU. They will deliver direct patient care in liaison with the senior nurse on duty, and (where Critical Care skills allow) are required to be the experienced nurse within the HDU to ensure the effective running of the area. Where experience and skills have been demonstrated, provide mentorship, assessment and direction to unqualified and junior staff inexperienced in Critical Care. We expect staff to assist in promoting a positive working and learning environment to aid the personal and professional development of self and other staff. You will be joining an established and dynamic multi-disciplinary team where clinical and nursing teams works well together; depending on experience you'll be offered preceptorship/supernumerary time.
Responsibilities
* Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment
* Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
* Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
* Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
* Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
* Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
* Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures
* Education and Training

Qualifications and requirements
* 1st level registration (or about to qualify within 3 months)
* Awareness of current issues in Critical Care and in nursing
* Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal), be numerate, organise own work and deliver care in a timely manner
* Willingness to undertake further training and development to meet the needs of the Critical Care service
* Interviews for this position will be held in person ONLY at York Hospital; remote interviews will not be available
