About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Altcourse, a busy Category B prison in Fazakerley, Liverpool. HMP Altcourse is the busiest remand prison in the country, so there's lots going on in this exciting, varied role, where you will gain valuable experience, and no two days are ever the same! This is a rare opportunity to join our growing Pharmacy team, dispensing medication, second checking, preparing prescriptions etc. This role offers opportunities for development and further training.
Hours
This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week, 07:00 - 15:00 / 08:00 - 16:00, Monday to Friday on a rotational basis. There are no weekends!
Salary
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary of £25,557 - £29,723 per annum, depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
* Support the Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Manager, as well as the wider healthcare team.
* Label and dispense medications, and prepare prescriptions.
* Second check controlled drugs.
* Contribute to services such as medicine reconciliation, managing stock medicines and transportation of medicines.
* Provide support to ensure a safe and secure medicines management service, following policies, procedures and standard operating procedures.

What we’ll look for in you
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Dispensing experience within a pharmacy environment—whether in the community, hospital or a prison/secure setting.
* Experience within a patient/customer facing role.
* A non-judgemental and compassionate approach.
