Role Overview
As an Underwriter, you will deliver a profitable underwriting service to clients. Your key tasks include underwriting business within the agreed plan, supporting planning and forecasting, monitoring exposure, managing claims, maintaining broker relationships, and contributing to system improvement.
Essential Responsibilities
* Underwrite and manage Angel’s Professional Liability renewal book.
* Review submissions, conduct risk research, and determine exposure.
* Calculate appropriate risk premiums.
* Assist, service, and follow up with clients on insurance.
* Manage cross‑selling opportunities and account retention.
* Ensure timely implementation of new and renewed accounts to quality standards.
* Handle policy endorsement requests and mid‑term adjustments.
* Support settlement input for claims.
* Collaborate with team, underwriters, assistants, and management.
* Develop, quote, and bind new and renewal financial lines business.
* Address referrals and complex risks.
* Act as a referral point for junior team members on out‑of‑authority business.
* Respond efficiently to broker queries.
* Prepare weekly and monthly reports.
* Reinforce broker relationships and partnerships.
Qualifications & Skills
* Proven underwriting experience in Financial Lines / Professional Liability / Directors & Officers Insurance.
* Strong knowledge of general insurance and underwriting processes.
* Commercial and business acumen with good numeracy and literacy.
* Excellent written and oral communication and customer‑service focus.
* Interpersonal savvy and ability to build broker contacts.
* Understanding of business processes, strategy, and planning.
* Experience with underwriting systems and online broker processing (advantageous).
* Collaborative team player who offers creative solutions.
* Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
* Proactive change management and flexibility in an evolving organization.
Reporting & Team Environment
You will report to the Managing Director and work within a collaborative team of underwriters, assistants, and management.
