Job Overview To support the Principal Surveyor in ensuring entry to, and where necessary acquisition of rights in, third party land to meet the needs of individual projects and the building, maintaining and/or repairing of Southern Water’s assets in AMP8. Preparation of land and compensation estimates, supporting the development of the project schedule and advising on associated risks relating to an individual project. Identification of landowners and occupiers and preparation of land ownership schedules and land ownership index maps. Supporting the Principal Surveyor in the relationship with owners and occupiers affected by the works and liaising with them and keeping them informed and updated throughout the project including an element of field/site-based work to meet with internal/external stakeholders and travel across the Southern Water region. Advising the project team on land entry matters, including opportunities and constraints and ensuring compliance on the project with Southern Waters’ ‘ Code of Practice for the exercise of pipelaying powers on land by Southern Water’ and the Water UK ‘ Land Entry. Providing project teams with regular updates on land entry progress, risks and compensation. About You BSc in relevant subject. Minimum of 1 year post qualification experience. Good communication skills – ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimisation of outcomes for the business. Proven negotiating skills, with the ability to diffuse and resolve conflicts with stakeholders. Confidence in letter writing, email and telephone communication. Good IT skills and willingness to learn new systems. Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment to achieve optimal outcomes. Working towards RICS qualification is desirable but not essential. Package This role will be full time Monday to Friday with a hybrid approach to working between our Falmer office sites and home.
