The Royal Lancaster Infirmary offers an active acute thrombolysis service (thrombectomy at Royal Preston Hospital) and utilizes a specialist Telestroke On-Call Service out of hours and at weekends. You may join the general medicine On-Call Rota, Telestroke On-Call rota, or both.
This post supports the development of the Stroke Service, working alongside existing Stroke Consultants, the Care of the Elderly Team, and General Medicine colleagues. You will liaise with Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, and Vascular Surgery teams, as well as Stroke Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Matrons, Ward Managers, Nurses, Therapists, and Secretaries to deliver excellent patient care throughout the hospital journey. You will provide clinical leadership to a dedicated team.

We seek a passionate colleague proficient in Stroke Medicine to provide acute medical and rehabilitation care. You will contribute to a high-quality TIA Service. A new combined Acute and Rehabilitation Stroke Unit opened in December 2019.
You will see patients in the Combined Stroke Unit, TIA Clinic, and Out-Patient Clinics. You will also have allocated time for SPA and administrative work.
