Overview
Haemato-oncology consultant post (10PA) at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust (UHD), based in Bournemouth and Poole. The UHD is a merged Trust comprising Poole Hospital, Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospitals in partnership with Bournemouth University. The service includes a 30-bed haematology in-patient unit and a JACIE-accredited autologous transplant unit at Royal Bournemouth Hospital, with day case chemotherapy and outpatient facilities. Poole Hospital is developed as the major elective care site with day case chemotherapy and outpatient facilities.
We run dedicated clinics for CLL, lymphoma, WM, myeloma, MDS and MPN. We have representation on NCRI subgroups and UK professional societies, and we contribute to national guideline development.

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will join our friendly team of haemato-oncology consultants and participate in a 1:13 rota supported by a two-tier SHO and SpR on-call rotas. The service includes an active JACIE transplant centre for Dorset autologous stem cell transplants and connections with the Southampton transplant team (allogeneic and CART-cell service). The post involves contributing to clinical trials and exploring development of the bispecific antibody programme. Candidates are encouraged to take an active role in clinical research and may take PI and CI roles in their sub-specialty. There is opportunity for collaborative research with Southampton and Bournemouth universities and potential involvement with a PhD student based in the Dorset Pathology Hub at Bournemouth.
We require a candidate who can start ASAP and who is willing to work LTFT if applicable.
Qualifications and experience
* Essential
o WHO-recognised Basic Medical Degree
o Full and Specialist GMC registration (or eligible within six months of interview)
* Clinical experience
o Experience and expertise in diagnosis and management of haematological malignancies
o Up-to-date skills in management of acute haematological emergencies and level 3 care
o Confidence in routine laboratory haematology including bone marrow reporting
* Research and audit
o Demonstrate knowledge of the role of audit
* Desirable
o MD or PhD would be looked on favourably
o Publications in refereed journals
* Teaching
o Evidence of formal undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
