Crouch Waterfall, part of Vulcain Engineering Group, are an established firm of Civil, Structural and Geotechnical Consulting Engineers with extensive experience in the core areas of Bridges, Rail, Infrastructure, Buildings and Geotechnical Services, designing and co-ordinating projects from conception to completion.
Due to business growth, we are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary design team, to lead and undertake the engineering designs for a variety of projects across the UK; including across Construction, Buildings, Rail, Bridges and Infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake electrical design work for a variety of project types and sizes, from concept to completion.
* Coordinate closely with other disciplines, clients, and contractors to define and deliver design requirements.
* Prepare and manage electrical design packages, including drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
* Oversee and check designs to ensure compliance with British and European Standards, CDM regulations, and project specifications.
* Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, site surveys, and HAZID workshops.
* Supervise and support junior engineers, promoting quality, consistency, and technical development.
* Ensure delivery of design outputs within agreed timescales and budgets, aligning with RIBA stages and (ideally) Network Rail’s PACE/GRIP.
* Assist with the design of cost estimates, bid preparation, and production planning for future work.
Preferred Experience:
* Experience in the field of electrical design, with up to date knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:
* Electrical Supply and HV/LV Distribution Systems
* Small & Fixed Power
* Internal and External Lighting & Emergency Lighting Design
* Familiar with 18th Edition of IET Wiring Regulations
* Electrical Load Assessments
* Standby Generation and UPS
* Earthing and Bonding
* Demonstration of a good understanding of engineering software packages used to design and model electrical systems; i.e. AutoCAD, MicroStation, Hevacomp, Amtech, Electrical OM, Dialux, or similar.
* UK project experience in one or more of the following; Rail, Construction, Buildings or Infrastructure.
* A minimum of HND in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a similar engineering discipline.
* Ideally, you hold or are willing to work towards professional registration as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or professional institution (i.e. IET, CIBSE).
* Ability to demonstrate commercial awareness and experience in electrical systems design.
