Job Description
The Senior Business Analyst (BA) role sits within the Technology Directorate. BAs enable the Bank to meet its objectives by working on technology change initiatives. As part of cross functional teams and working closely with our business colleagues, BAs elicit, analyse and create a shared understanding of requirements to enable successful implementation of our change initiatives.
* Responsibilities include: eliciting, analysing and managing complex business requirements; producing clear analysis artefacts (process maps, user stories, acceptance criteria); facilitating workshops; engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders; applying BA tools and methods; supporting both Agile and Waterfall delivery; working across the full SDLC; coaching on Agile principles; developing operating models and BPMN 2.0; delivering high-quality artefacts from concept to detailed specifications; managing stakeholders and influencing decisions.
Responsibilities and Activity (typical day):
* Attend stand-up, refine requirements or map processes with stakeholders.
* Produce analysis artefacts and support delivery teams.
* Collaborate with colleagues in Leeds or London, or remotely as part of a hybrid model.
* Update documentation and share outputs to give the wider team clarity on next steps.
Role Requirements
You have experience in eliciting, analysing and managing complex business requirements, working on large-scale transformation projects, using data and insight to influence decision-making and drive change.
* Demonstrable experience working as a Business Analyst on projects or programmes, responsible for analysing and managing business requirements.
* Ability to produce clear analysis artefacts such as process maps, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
* Experience facilitating workshops or stakeholder meetings to elicit requirements and validate solutions.
* Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Proficiency in standard BA tools and methods (e.g., process modelling, gap analysis).
* Solid knowledge of project delivery and product management approaches (Agile and/or Waterfall).
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.
* Experience in banking or financial institutions delivering projects related to banking, insurance, supervision or regulatory data.
Criteria
* Minimum Criteria: Educated to degree level and/or recognised BA qualification (e.g., BCS BA Diploma, IIBA CBAP) or equivalent experience; proven BA track record on complex projects; full SDLC experience with Agile and Waterfall; ability to produce high-quality outputs from high-level concepts to detailed specifications.
* Essential Criteria: Degree or equivalent qualification; strong stakeholder management; ability to coach and mentor on Agile principles; BPMN 2.0 and operating models; SFIA-related capabilities (see Desirable).
* Desirable Criteria: Awareness of business architecture principles; data management experience; customer journeys and user research; scaled Agile in Waterfall environments; delivery method certifications; SFIA Level 4 capabilities including Business Situation Analysis, Requirements Definition and Management, Business Modelling, Business Process Re-engineering, Stakeholder Relationship Management, Methods and Tool.

A day in the role
A typical day might start with the team’s stand-up for the current sprint, followed by refining requirements or mapping processes with stakeholders. You may produce artefacts such as process flows or impact assessments, join a Community of Practice session, and collaborate with developers and testers to ensure solutions meet business needs. You’ll update documentation and outputs for the wider team.
Salary, Benefits & Inclusion
Salary in Leeds: £49,360 - £55,530
