Overview
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Manor Wood School and Avonside School. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and hold a Speech and Language therapy caseload with support from a designated clinical supervisor and Lead Clinician. The post suits a resilient, creative and enthusiastic individual.
Responsibilities
* Deliver assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs.
* Maintain a person‑centred, empowering approach and a strong safeguarding culture.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
* Work collaboratively with the education team, the multidisciplinary team, families and carers.
Qualifications
* Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* HCPC registered and registered with the RCSLT.
* Relevant experience engaging and working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
* Experience of multi‑disciplinary working in a range of settings.
* Experience communicating with and working with families, relatives and carers.
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice.
* Good relationship building, analytical and judgmental skills.
* Good oral and written communication skills.
* Good time management and organisational skills.
* Competency in core areas of SaLT practice and a clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
* Knowledge of different SaLT assessment tools, types of intervention and how to formulate support plans based on needs profiles.
* Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group.
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences impacting communication strengths, differences, traits, difficulties and needs profiles.
* Understanding of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
Contract
Permanent, term‑time only. Flexibility around a full‑time contract of 52 weeks can be discussed based on personal circumstances.
