Radiology Patient Pathway Assistant

Responsibilities
The role is 37.5 hours per week, covering a range of shifts across a 5‑day week, Monday to Sunday, with weekend work as required. Working at Basildon Hospital and travelling to other sites (Orsett Hospital, Brentwood Community Hospital, St Andrew’s Billericay, Thurrock Community Diagnostic Centre, Southend and Broomfield Hospitals) to provide reception and call‑centre support.
The main duties include:
* Front‑line reception cover, checking patients in and out of the radiology department.
* Managing patient queries face‑to‑face and over the phone.
* Booking specialised imaging appointments and performing routine administrative tasks.
* Maintaining a tidy and welcoming atmosphere for patients, visitors and staff.
* Providing cover for colleagues' absences and adjusting to change in days/hours when required.
The expected sites covered are:
* Main X‑Ray Department – Basildon Hospital
* Ultrasound Department – Basildon Hospital
* CTC Reception – Basildon Hospital
* Courtyard MRI/CT – Basildon Hospital
* Maternity Ultrasound Reception – Basildon Hospital
* Orsett X‑ray Department – Orsett Hospital
* St Andrews Centre – Billericay
* Brentwood Community Hospital – X‑ray Department
* Thurrock Community Diagnostic Centre – Grays
Person Specification
Education
* Good level of general education (e.g. GCSEs or equivalent)
* Demonstrated literacy with minimal spelling or grammar errors
* Qualification in administration preferred
Experience
* Experience working in a public‑facing role, preferably NHS or healthcare
* Experience as a receptionist in a healthcare environment
Skills and attributes
* Excellent telephone and interpersonal communication
* Attention to detail, able to work accurately and calmly under pressure
* High level of computer literacy
* Ability to multi‑task and manage time effectively
* Flexibility to cover colleague absences and adjust working days/hours
