Job Purpose
To provide a high-quality, customer-focused housing management service to residents, ensuring sustainable tenancies, safe communities, and compliance with housing legislation and organisational policies. The Housing Officer will manage a patch of properties and act as the main point of contact for tenants.
Key Responsibilities
Tenancy & Estate Management

Manage a patch of properties and deliver effective day-to-day housing management

Act as the primary contact for tenants, providing advice and support
*
Carry out tenancy sign-ups, reviews, and home visits
*
Investigate and resolve tenancy breaches
Rent & Arrears
*
Monitor rent accounts and take appropriate action to prevent and reduce arrears
*
Work closely with Rent/Income teams to support arrears recovery
*
Advise tenants on rent payments, benefits, and payment methods
Repairs & Property Standards
*
Report and follow up on repairs and maintenance issues
*
Conduct estate and block inspections
*
Ensure properties and communal areas meet required standards
Safeguarding & Vulnerable Residents
*
Identify and support vulnerable tenants
*
Make referrals to support services and partner agencies
Customer Service & Partnership Working
*
Respond to enquiries via phone, email, and face-to-face
*
Handle complaints and resolve issues at the earliest opportunity
*
Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies
Compliance & Administration

Person Specification
Essential
*
Housing Officer experience working in a local authority or housing association is essential
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skill

Experience managing ASB cases
