Position: Industrial Services Plumbing Technician (day-based) based at the Halifax Factory in West Yorkshire. This is a permanent, full-time role working days.
What the role is about
Manufacturing at the Nestlé Halifax Factory involves producing Quality Street and other brands on controlled process plants and automated lines. You will support the Industrial Services Manager by carrying out maintenance on pipework systems, control valves, domestic systems and drainage, and you may be involved in Plumbing, Drainage and General Building repairs. You will work with 3rd party contractors to ensure asset reliability while maintaining SHE requirements. You will contribute to continuous improvement and TPM processes and move from reactive to proactive maintenance.
Responsibilities
* Respond to plant breakdowns to maximise production output and ensure smooth operation (overtime/weekend work may be required).
* Manage cost, efficiency, quality and maintenance activities including administration.
* Maintain relevant technical documentation.
* Contribute to site initiatives and engineering standards (HACCP, ISO50001, TPM, Corporate Engineering Standards).
* Raise purchase orders as needed and coordinate with Maintenance Managers to maintain service levels within budget.
* Issue permits to work for Nestlé and 3rd party contractors and manage contractors.
* Support Compliance Audits and remedial actions with the Industrial Services Manager.
What will make you successful
You will have excellent mechanical services, HVAC and plumbing engineering ability, with initiative and attention to detail. Knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques (5S, LEAN, TPM) is desirable.
* Educated to NVQ level 2/3 or City and Guilds in mechanical services/plumbing.
* BOAS qualification and experience with Ammonia Refrigeration Systems preferred.
* Experience with steam boilers and associated equipment, Refrigeration Systems, Air Compressors and Water Treatment is beneficial.
* Logical fault-finding approach to breakdowns.
* Effective communication with a range of stakeholders.
* Demonstrated sense of urgency while maintaining safety and product quality.
