Overview
Water Resources Planning Specialist role in the Environment Agency, based in Welwyn Garden City with flexible working between office and home. The position is part of the Integrated Environment Planning team, focusing on collation, analysis and sharing data to produce evidence that informs area priorities related to water resources and Water Framework Directive activities.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of projects and investigations related to Water Company Water Resources activities.
* Investigate potentially unsustainable abstractions.
* Work with water companies to implement environmental improvement schemes.
* Assess flood risk implications of water company projects.
* Organise internal project teams to provide technical advice to water companies.
* Manage relationships with water companies and local interest groups to achieve the best environmental outcome.
* Build productive and influential relationships with external partners.
* Use technical understanding and judgement to scrutinise the methodology and outcomes of investigations.
Experience and Skills
* A degree in a relevant subject or relevant experience in the environment sector.
* Good knowledge of water resources issues.
* Self-starter who can deliver key project tasks.
* The ability to run a technical (virtual) team.
* Very good written and verbal communication skills.
* An established record of practical problem solving.
* The ability to think through challenges unsupervised and as part of a team.

The role will be based in our Welwyn Garden City office, with flexible working patterns combining office and home working.
