The Opportunity
A long-established and highly respected precision engineering company based in York is currently seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join its skilled engineering team on a permanent, full-time basis.
The business specialises in high-quality, bespoke precision engineering, manufacturing components ranging from one-off prototypes through to small and medium production runs. Serving multiple engineering sectors, the company is known for its technical capability, quality standards, and long-term stability.

It would suit an experienced CNC Turner, CNC Miller, or Precision Engineer who takes pride in accuracy, problem-solving, and high-quality workmanship.
The Role
As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for the setting, operation, and programming of CNC machines, producing precision components to exacting standards. You will work closely with fellow machinists, engineers, and supervisors to ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the required quality levels.
Key responsibilities include:

Setting, operating, and programming CNC milling and turning machines
*
Working with a variety of materials to tight tolerances
*
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical documentation
*
Programming using Fusion 360, supported by SolidWorks 3D models
*
Carrying out in-process inspection and final inspection of components
*
Identifying non-conforming parts and taking corrective action where required
*
Supporting continuous improvement by suggesting process or setup enhancements
*
Completing job documentation accurately and in line with company procedures
*
Adhering strictly to Health & Safety policies, including correct use of PPE
Skills & Experience Required
To be considered for this position, you should be an experienced CNC Machinist with a strong background in turning and milling within a precision engineering environment.
Essential requirements include:

Proven experience as a CNC Machinist, CNC Turner, or CNC Miller
*
Confident in setting and operating multiple CNC machines
*
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and tolerances
*
High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality
*
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
*
A proactive, safety-conscious approach to work
Desirable (but not essential):
*
Experience using Fusion 360 and SolidWorks
*
Knowledge of Mazatrol and Hurco control systems
