Location: Council House and up to a 10-mile radius from the city centre

Contract Type: Permanent
The Council has an internal Courier Service based within our Document Management Centre team that delivers and collects mail daily from all our Council offices located within the boundary of the City. The mail can include letters and parcels, as well as small pieces of equipment and office furniture. We also provide a daily library book delivery/collection to our statutory and community-managed libraries across the City.
We are looking for a flexible and well organised person that can cover these rounds when the permanent Courier is absent, which can sometimes be at very short notice. The Courier is expected to liaise with customers face to face and over the phone so good communication and customer service skills are needed.

The requirements:
• A clean driving licence
• Previous experience of a similar role
• A good knowledge of the road system in and around Derby
• Excellent customer service skills
• A basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
This role can be physical and demanding and includes lifting and carrying weights up to 15 kg and walking a distance of up to miles a day.
