Job Description:
Manpower is currently seeking 2 interim Laboratory Technicians to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple. Join their fast-paced FMCG environment.
This position is based at Unilever's scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral. It is a full-time temporary role for 6 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation ranges from £24,700 to £27,445 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.
This Laboratory Technician (Fragrance Lab Compounder) role involves working across all Unilever Business Groups globally, collaborating with fragrance R&D teams. The main responsibility is to provide technical and laboratory support to accurately formulate recipes. The role requires high attention to detail due to its repetitive nature.
You will work both proactively and independently within a multi-functional, multicultural environment, following prescribed procedures and health and safety guidelines.
The core task is to formulate accurately according to specified recipes, requiring precision and meticulous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
* Accurately weigh materials according to recipes and order of addition
* Record all laboratory work meticulously, including labelling
* Handle and store raw materials safely
* Coordinate with the laboratory team and raw material assistant manager regarding stock levels and requirements
* Maintain cleanliness and calibration of equipment for accurate results
* Adhere to safety and laboratory management procedures (Risk Assessment, Health & Safety, Standard Procedures)
* Communicate challenges and timing updates to the project team
Key Skills
* Practical laboratory experience in sample preparation preferred, with a focus on safety and procedure adherence
* Interest in fragrances; background in perfumery, chemistry, and formulation useful
* Strong teamwork skills and ability to work independently
* Knowledge of safety protocols, SOPs, risk assessments, and CoSHH
* Motivated, numerate, detail-oriented, with an interest in products and fragrances
* Effective communication skills, especially regarding deadlines and challenges
* Digital literacy
* Calmness under changing priorities
