Overall Purpose of The Job
Join our Legal Team at Kensington Mortgages as an In-House Solicitor.
Are you a proactive, solution-focused solicitor looking to expand your legal career within a dynamic and varied environment? No two days are the same here.
Your role will involve providing high-quality legal advice across the business on matters including mortgage originations, servicing, FCA regulation, litigation, AML legislation, fraud, data protection, property, contracts, and more.
The department offers a varied workload, providing opportunities for candidates with diverse experience to contribute and develop their skills, while collaborating with our legal colleagues at Barclays.
Key Accountabilities
* Delivering timely, practical legal advice to the business.
* Managing caseloads including disputes and litigation with external solicitors.
* Drafting and negotiating contracts, legal documentation, and policies.
* Providing legal guidance on mortgage applications, business documentation, policies, procedures, and risk management.
* Supporting compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, advising on legislative changes.
* Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ensuring protection in disputes and contractual relationships with customers and third parties.
* Contributing legal expertise to projects within Kensington and Barclays.
* Acting with integrity and promoting fair customer outcomes.
Qualifications:
* Qualified solicitor admitted to practice in England and Wales with 1-4 years post-qualification experience.
* Strong experience in financial services, especially mortgage lending or litigation (acting for lenders is a plus).
* Knowledge of residential conveyancing and land registration is advantageous.
* Confident communicator with strong analytical skills.
* Team player with a proactive attitude and collaborative approach.
