SEN Teacher - KS3 (ASD / MLD) Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex Contract: Full-time | Maternity Cover Start Date: After Easter 2026 (potentially sooner) We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Southend-on-Sea for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join their team on a full-time maternity cover basis. You will be responsible for teaching and supporting Key Stage 3 pupils with Autism (ASD) and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), delivering a tailored curriculum that promotes engagement, progress and emotional wellbeing. The Role: Plan and deliver adapted, inclusive lessons to meet a range of SEN needs Teach and support KS3 pupils with ASD and MLD in small groups and targeted settings Implement and review EHCP outcomes and personalised learning strategies Work collaboratively with SENCOs, Teaching Assistants and pastoral teams Create a structured, nurturing and supportive learning environment The Ideal Candidate: Holds QTS (or equivalent recognised teaching qualification) Has experience teaching pupils with ASD and/or MLD (mainstream or specialist setting) Demonstrates strong behaviour management and inclusive teaching practice Is flexible, patient and committed to supporting diverse learners Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary school team What's on Offer: A supportive and inclusive mainstream secondary school environment Well-resourced SEN provision Collaborative SEN and pastoral teams Opportunity to make a meaningful impact during a key stage of learning This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
