An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Procurement Compliance Manager to join our Procurement Team.
As Northern PowerGrid’s expert on Procurement Law and the Utilities Contract Regulations (UCR), this role is accountable for ensuring ongoing legal compliance within all procurement and tendering activities, providing interpretation and guidance to procurement staff and the wider business. Responsible for establishing and maintaining purchasing-related legal and policy compliance monitoring and reporting procedures, including preparation of BHE and executive-level reports that highlight breaches and recommend corrective actions.
Along with a competitive salary between £60,000 and £70,000 depending on experience, we also offer:

Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure all Northern Powergrid procurement policies, systems, and procedures comply with EU procurement directives.
* Monitor ongoing compliance with Northern Powergrid and Berkshire Hathaway Energy procurement policies.
* Ensure that all systems and procedures used by Northern Powergrid enable ethical procurement.
* Review NPg tenders to ensure compliance with policies and procedures prior to market issuance, including establishing and delivering related audit programmes.
* Develop and deliver procurement process improvement initiatives aimed at maximizing NPg purchase-related savings, such as reducing sole-source purchases, maximizing bidder participation, and establishing tendering principles for the most advantageous tenders.
* Maintain advanced knowledge of the EU Procurement Directive.
* Be knowledgeable in procurement systems and procedures.
* Maintain high literacy levels to document coherent reports, policies, and procedures.
* Support IT-based procurement systems with high IT literacy.
* Possess good communication skills to interact with internal and external peers and conduct training on procurement systems, policies, and procedures.
* Perform advanced reporting and data manipulation.
Qualifications and Attributes
Essential Qualifications & Attributes:
* MCIPS or working towards MCIPS
* Knowledge of the EU Procurement Directives
* Knowledge of the Utilities Contract Regulations 2016 / Procurement Act 2023
* Experience with procurement and e-tendering systems
* Experience with tender negotiation
* Experience in procurement policy & procedural development
* Understanding of Contract Law
Desirable Qualifications & Attributes:
* Degree level education in a relevant subject
* Experience implementing new operating models
* Experience managing procurement compliance
* Experience working and influencing external parties
