Trust Registrar - General Surgery /EGS

The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a registrar to work in the emergency general surgery and upper gastrointestinal surgery units within the Department of General Surgery. This role offers an early to mid-level registrar an opportunity to develop general surgery laparoscopic skills and gain exposure to our new benign upper GI surgical unit for anti‑reflux surgery and hiatal hernia repair, as well as our large colorectal cancer unit where robotic cancer surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction are performed. This is a service post and is not recognised for training; full registration with the GMC is required.
Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will work across the emergency general surgery and upper gastrointestinal surgery units, assisting with a wide range of procedures, including emergency laparotomies, laparoscopic surgeries, and specialized upper GI operations. They will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, contribute to clinical audit, and support the delivery of excellent patient care.
Person specification
* Full GMC Registration with License to Practice
* FRCS or MRCS qualification
* Experience in General Surgery/Emergency General Surgery within the NHS
* Ability to work within an EGS multidisciplinary group
* Experience of clinical audit and enabling delivery of good practice
