Are you passionate about creating a transport network that drives growth, connects communities, and protects the environment?
Were looking for a Transport Strategy Officer to play a pivotal role in shaping policies and strategies that will transform how people and goods move across the region.
In this exciting role, youll support the development of forward-thinking transport policies and strategies that deliver on the West Midlands ambitious strategic objectives from enabling housing and economic growth to reducing environmental impacts. Working at the heart of Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), youll collaborate with colleagues, local authorities, partners, and stakeholders to deliver a truly integrated and sustainable transport vision.
Youll undertake vital research to inform the Local Transport Plan (LTP), influence government policy, and provide evidence-based insights that shape decision-making and deliver real outcomes for the region.
What you will be doing
Support the development and delivery of policy and research projects
Undertake research and analysis of data/information that will inform strategy and policy development
Produce briefing notes, presentations and research documents
Respond efficiently to requests for support from colleagues, partners and stakeholders
Prepare and support the development of robust and timely consultation responses
Support the preparation of preparation for engagement with senior transport officers at WMCA and local authorities and the WMCAs governance processes including Overview & Scrutiny.
Maintain an overview of policies, research, legislation and best practice across transport and related sectors
Forge strong and positive working relationships with internal and external colleagues
Assist in the adequate storage, protection and retrieval of information
Whats essential
Experience of working in and with multi-disciplinary teams
Good communication and inter-personal skills
Good presentation skills to develop briefings and reports
Good analytical skills and a proactive problem-solving attitude.
Educated to degree level in a related field such as transportation planning and management, urban planning, geography, environmental science or economics / have relevant work experience.
Location.
The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
