A well-established and growing construction business is seeking to appoint a Financial Controller in a newly created position. This is a pivotal opportunity to work closely with the Managing Director, providing commercial financial insight while managing all aspects of the finance function.
This role is fully onsite at the company's head office in Derbyshire and would suit an experienced finance professional with a strong background in the construction sector.
The Role
* Partner with the Managing Director to provide commercial and financial insight.
* Lead on all aspects of financial control including management accounts, statutory reporting, and cash flow.
* Oversee project and contract accounting, including WIP, retentions, and revenue recognition.
* Ensure compliance with VAT (including reverse charge), CIS, payroll, and HMRC requirements.
* Deliver financial modelling and analysis to support bidding, pricing, and project profitability.
* Strengthen internal controls, processes, and reporting across the finance function.
About You
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
* Proven experience as a Financial Controller / Finance Manager in the construction sector.
* Strong knowledge of contract accounting, CIS, and reverse VAT.
* Commercially minded, with the ability to provide clear, actionable insight.
* Hands-on approach, comfortable in a fully onsite role.
