Job Summary
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is looking to attract high quality Theatre Registered Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners. We have Theatres on all three main sites; Lancaster, Kendal and Barrow‑in‑Furness, and can offer suitable candidates an investment in professional development opportunities. This position will mainly be based in Lancaster.
Main Duties
* Able to actively assess, plan, implement & evaluate patient care with the multidisciplinary team, incorporating the whole of the patient’s pathway.
* Aware of the structure and organisation of the NHS and regulatory body’s code of practice and implementing this into nursing practice.
* Participate in Clinical Governance by auditing effectiveness of practice and incorporating findings.
* Act as mentor or assessor in supervising and teaching of junior staff and unregistered staff.
* Act as shift leader or manage a team in the absence of the Clinical Leader.

Person Specification
* Essential education and qualifications:
o 1st level Registered Nurse or Registered ODP.
o Teaching/mentoring qualification D32/D33 assessors qualification or equivalent.
o Recognised Anaesthetics Qualification for those practitioners assigned to Anaesthetic room duties.
o Scrub experience.
o Recovery experience.
* Desirable qualifications:
o Post‑registration clinical course appropriate to area.
o ECDL or equivalent.
* Experience:
o Evidence of recent professional development in relevant clinical speciality.
o Previous experience within designated area.
o Experience of mentoring and assessing junior staff and unqualified staff.
o Experience of implementing change, e.g. changes to clinical practice as a result of own research or literature search.
o Experience of establishing effective communication, e.g. overcoming barriers to communication due to patient anxiety or disability.
o Experience as a shift team leader able to work autonomously in isolated areas of practice and communicate concerns accordingly to senior staff.
