Job summary
Be a member of the clinical team.
Provide phlebotomy services in accordance with current guidelines and local protocols.
Be able to record ECGs.
Monitor blood pressure.
Manage wounds and remove sutures or stitches.
Perform urinalysis.
Have an understanding of QOF and IIF, and how Primary Care General Practice operates.
Refer patients to other clinicians as necessary.
Provide routine clinical care to patients according to locally approved protocols, under supervision of the Treatment Room Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, or GP.
Have primary care experience and experience working in a GP Practice.
Work within Redcar, East Cleveland, and Middlesbrough sites.
Main duties of the job
1. Understand the principles of healthy living and provide relevant health promotion literature to patients.
2. Collect patient data such as blood pressure, height, weight, and ECGs in accordance with practice protocols and your competence to operate the necessary equipment.
3. Record data on patient electronic records accurately and promptly.
4. Manage wound care, including packings and dressings.
5. Remove sutures and stitches.
6. Summarize patient notes and assist with administrative tasks for the nursing team.
7. Provide smoking cessation support to patients as per your training and protocols.
8. Run Blood Pressure and ECG clinics.
9. Prepare consultation and treatment rooms for effective patient interactions, ensuring they are stocked and clean.
10. Maintain the system for monitoring and ordering clinical supplies.
11. Ensure specimens are ready for collection by pathology services.
12. Assist in maintaining the safe storage of drugs and vaccines under supervision.
13. Conduct weekly and monthly checks on emergency equipment such as the trolley, defibrillator, and oxygen supplies.
14. Adhere to infection control guidelines.
15. Maintain patient privacy and dignity, respecting their rights and preferences, and adopting a non-judgmental approach.
