Summary of Role:
We are seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join the acclaimed Nidec Drives R&D Department.
The Senior Power Electronics Engineer will report to the Product Development Manager and will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing power electronics and auxiliary circuits, covering all technical disciplines necessary for circuit delivery, including component evaluation, circuit analysis and simulation, thermal and mechanical design, and PCB review with manufacturing considerations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Possess a solid understanding of power electronics.
* Contribute to new design creation, product specifications, critical power components, and the development of analogue, digital, and electronic circuits/systems for power electronics.
* Implement designs that meet functional requirements and comply with international EMC and Safety standards.
* Interface with external suppliers and participate in product design reviews, maintaining collaboration with multidisciplinary engineers to ensure solutions align with drive architecture.
* Manage and facilitate type test meetings and develop test equipment as a Senior Power Electronics Engineer.
* Prepare clear technical documentation and reports, including presenting and justifying design concepts.
* Participate in technical design reviews, providing constructive critique.
* Guide and support other Development Engineers.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Master's Degree (MEng) in Power Electronics.
* Proven engineering experience.
* Understanding of power electronic devices, topologies, and control systems.
* Experience with simulation tools (e.g., PLECS, Saber, Simetrix, Pspice, MATLAB Simulink).
* Interest in emerging technologies and innovation in design.
* Knowledge of planning tools and application of planning theories.
* Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
