Overview
Instrumentation Engineer : Aerospace and Defence — Milton Keynes area. Permanent position, full-time (40 hours per week) with shift work. Salary dependent on experience.
The role involves manufacturing and installing instrumentation for testing facilities, including equipment calibration, setup of specialised measurement/monitoring equipment, assembly and integration for test, troubleshooting and assisting in facility operation. The successful candidate will join the Engineering Team and support a wide range of commercial and research projects.
Responsibilities
* Manufacture of wiring looms and assemblies with reference to circuit drawings/wiring lists.
* Hand soldering of fine components at the workbench and strain gauge installation/wiring.
* Calibration, maintenance, testing, and fault finding of sensors and systems to component level.
* Support the design and integration of instrumentation into customer tests and rigs.
* Work as part of a team and conduct testing to defined quality standards.
* Provide instrumentation support for projects in all test facilities.
* Maintenance of the instrumentation hardware and records.
* Preparation and installation of specialist optical measurement systems in test facilities.
* Make recommendations for design, process, or hardware modifications.
* Support continuous improvement within the department.
* Conform to Health and Safety Policy and Quality Standards.
* Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
* Flexible approach to shift patterns and overtime as required.
* Undertaking training, where necessary, in support of the above duties. Training will be provided in all specialist activities associated with this position.
* Experienced time-served technician, preferably educated to HNC/HND level; Electrical and Electronic Engineering level (or equivalent) with experience of working in R&D.
Qualifications
* Time-served technician with relevant practical experience; HNC/HND level preferred.
* Electrical and Electronic Engineering level (or equivalent) with experience in R&D.
* Ability to work in a high-precision, controlled environment and in line with project schedules.

The successful candidate must be a sole British national able to satisfy security clearance (SC) requirements, including last 5 years of continual UK residency due to projects/products involved.
