Chief Development Officer & Funeral Celebrant
Rowland Brothers Foundation provides free bereavement counselling through one‑on‑one sessions, group support, and drop‑ins at various locations in South London. The foundation also offers training programmes for HR staff to help them identify and manage grief in the workplace, enabling organisations to demonstrate care and support for their employees during difficult times. The foundation is dedicated to making a meaningful difference in people’s lives by addressing the challenges associated with loss and bereavement.
Role Description
This is a full‑time hybrid role based in Croydon, with flexibility to work from home part‑time. The role involves overseeing fundraising efforts, including planned and annual giving campaigns, whilst cultivating philanthropic relationships. The successful candidate will create and execute strategic plans to ensure financial growth, manage budgets, and develop key programmes. The candidate will also join community groups to promote the foundation (including out‑of‑hours work which is included in salary), provide professional celebrant services and support the foundation’s mission to deliver quality bereavement care and resources.
Qualifications
* Experience in Planned Giving and Annual Giving to secure and manage fundraising initiatives
* Proficiency in Philanthropy, with the ability to build and maintain donor relationships
* Expertise in Strategic Planning and Budgeting to drive financial growth and sustainability
* Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team
* Experience or training as a Funeral Celebrant is required
* Commitment to supporting bereaved individuals and delivering compassionate services
* Knowledge of the non‑profit and/or bereavement support sector is an advantage
Other Requirements
* Flexibility to travel for funerals, events, and meetings as required
* Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
* Knowledge and experience offering counselling
* Sympathetic and understanding communication skills
* Good knowledge of the local and surrounding areas
* Knowledge of government and group funding with various forms and application procedures
